Hello and welcome to Eat.Bike.Run!


Hi again! My name is Rachel.  This blog is where I share my passion for running, training, racing, lots of eating, my dog Yoshi and everything in between.  I love naps, baking up a storm, I’m a Harry Potter fanatic and space nerd.  I prefer fall over summer, sunrises over sunsets, breakfast for dinner, and reading whatever I can get my hands on.  I am a wannabe health nut with a passion for doughnuts.  I’m the proud momma of my sweet corgi boy Yoshi, who fills my heart up daily.

A little more about me: I started out as a dancer at the age of 3, and that’s all the exercise I’d ever known. After moving to Houston and graduating from college (go UH!), I started my first job and was there talked into taking my first crossfit class.   I had never messed  with heavy weights before, so this brought in a whole new challenge for me. I was hooked.  The problem I kept running into was running – literally.   All of the warm-ups and some workouts contained a lot of running, something I wasn’t used to.  I needed to work on this.  So my best gal pal and I found a free running club to join and began running 3 miles every Tuesday.  I couldn’t make it all the way around the loop, but after weeks of keeping at it I did it!!  I finally experienced my first taste of the “runner’s high” and soon after I was running all the time.  When I ran 5 miles nonstop, I was so proud of myself I decided to sign up for the Houston Marathon.  That day came and I would love to say it was the best time of my life, but life has a funny way of turning things.  It was awful – raining, freezing (for a Texan 38 degrees is freezing), but it didn’t stop me.  Signed up for 3 half marathons immediately following and then my first triathlon.

I haven’t stopped since.  Marathon x 2, Completed Ironman Texas and Ironman Texas 70.3, Half marathons x 9 and countless other 10Ks, 5Ks, sprints and olypmpic distance triathlons.  Running has become therapy and triathlons have become a challenge I keep accepting.  This is living. 🙂  Follow me to see my daily adventures in the life of a not so typical accountant turned athlete.
